In November 2020, Emission Reduction Alberta announced a new $55 million Energy Savings for Business program aimed towards small and medium sized industrial and commercial facilities across Alberta. Ultimately, the goal of the program is to access funding to cover a portion of any project costs for cost-saving and emissions reducing projects. The project will create about 1,400 jobs, account for lifetime greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions, and drive $300 million in economic activity.
Overall, the project aims for businesses to adopt commercially available energy-efficient technologies and is open to all industries. Up to $250,000 is available per project to a maximum of $500,000. This program will be open for pre-approval in January 2021 and funding will be awarded as a first-come, first-serve basis.
